I was watching MAD on POGO the other night (what??) and the theme of the show was "The Future"......and the presenter said something really interesting.....She said..."Some Scientists believe that in the future time travel could be possible" then she want on to say "Well, then if thats the case...where are all the time travelers!?"
Interesting thought isn't it??
If you sit and think...isn't she right....if the 0-88MPH in 1.21 Gigawatts IS possible (:P thats what makes time travel possible according to Back to the Future's Doc Emmet Brown coupled with the "Flux Capacitor"...ok enough of BTTF Trivia...on with the story)...then wouldn't the people of the future want to come back to the past and check out their relatives...wouldn't they be curious of their ancestors and forefathers??
Take a good look around..... that curious looking grandma across the street could actually be a time traveler!!
Well, i can answer that question........sort of!
After hours of research and documentaries I have come to the following conclusion/s...this is what most scientists agree upon too...
IF...and thats a really BIG IF time travel is possible...Its highly improbable that we can go back into the past...
Thats because in the past there simple isn't any time-machine set-up for you to arrive to.....if its not there, it isn't working and if isn't working, u cant arrive at that time...its like your trying to go to a place in a train which has no tracks let alone a station!
You can only go back till the moment the time-machine actually exists....
and not before that...you can sure as hell go into the future...as the time-machine is still existing in the future....
E.g i can go into the future to see my great grand son and say "Hey Dude, I am your great grand father!", but he cant come back to the past and say "Hey Dude, I am your great grand son!" ;P
There are some radical tecniques to back in time but that would require us to do any/all of the following:
* Traveling faster than the speed of light.(Impossible...because the special theory of relativity doesn't permit us to go beyond the spped of light...correct me if i'm wrong)
* The use of cosmic strings and black holes.(Do it Yourself!)
* Wormholes and Alcubierre 'warp' drive.(Try it!!)
Here are some illustrations after a quick googling session....
Time travel hypothesis using cosmic strings:
Time travel hypothesis using wormholes:
The one thing that makes backwards time travel highly improbable is the "Grandfather Paradox"
This is what the paradox states:
Suppose a man traveled back in time and killed his biological grandfather before the latter met the traveller's grandmother. As a result, one of the traveller's parents (and by extension, the traveller himself) would never have been conceived. This would imply that he could not have travelled back in time after all, which in turn implies the grandfather would still be alive, and the traveller would have been conceived, allowing him to travel back in time and kill his grandfather. Thus each possibility seems to imply its own negation, a type of logical paradox.
What this means is that any interactions the traveler does with the environment around him will have serious repercussions on the whole space-time.
It's quite complex and otherworldly...isn't it? :D
Some scientists argue that travelling backwards in time might take one to a parallel universe whose history could begin to diverge from the traveler's original history after the moment the traveler arrived in the past.
So any alterations or changes made by the traveler would be in that alternate parallel universe and the original space-time continuum would be unchanged...
effectively countering the Grandfather paradox...
This is all relative to the fact that Time travel IS possible....If time travel ISN'T possible all this won't make any sense....
So the next time someone's late don't make fun of that person..they're actually on time according to their own frame of reference of relative time........
Think about it....
until the next time, this is nuspeed warping out.....
Chaoo and be good...
